A China's judicial body has handed down death sentences to five top members of an infamous Burmese organized crime group to death as Beijing continues its campaign on fraudulent networks in South East Asia.

Overall, twenty-one Bai family individuals and collaborators were found guilty of fraud, murder, assault and other offenses, reported a state media report released on the judicial website.

This clan is one of a handful of mafias that became dominant in the early 2000s and converted the poor remote area of the town into a profitable center of casinos and entertainment zones.

Over the past few years they shifted to fraudulent schemes in which many of illegally moved people, a large number of them from China, are trapped, abused and forced to defraud victims in illegal operations worth huge sums.
