Cowboys Defensive Lineman Kneeland Dies at Age 24
He was the 56th selection in the 2024 NFL draft
Dallas Cowboys defensive lineman Marshawn Kneeland has passed away aged 24.
Kneeland was drafted by the Cowboys in the second round of the draft in 2024 and appeared in 18 games for the team, with four starting appearances.
He scored his first touchdown in Tuesday's defeat to the Arizona Cardinals when he retrieved a blocked punt.
"Marshawn was a beloved teammate and member of our organisation," the Dallas Cowboys said.
"Our thoughts and prayers regarding Marshawn are with his partner Catalina and his loved ones."
Kneeland was selected by Dallas with the 56th selection of the 2024 draft after playing college football for Western Michigan.
His agent, Jonathan Perzley, said his "heart aches" for the loss of the athlete who "gave his all" into every moment.
"I saw him strive his way from a aspiring young man at Western Michigan with a goal to being a respected professional for the Dallas Cowboys," Perzley commented.
The NFL stated it is "deeply saddened" by the tragic event.
