Democrats Criticize Trump After He States They Should Face Execution

Lawmakers from the Democratic party expressed fury after Donald Trump charged a contingent of Democratic congress members of being "turncoats" and asserted they should be taken into custody and penalized "by death" following their posting of a disputed video.

The Message That Sparked the Debate

The clip, released on Tuesday, showcases six Democratic lawmakers who formerly worked in military or defense capacities.

"As we did, you all swore an pledge to defend and defend this founding document," the representatives declared in the 90-second video. "At present, the risks to our constitution are not only from abroad, but from within our own country. Our regulations are unambiguous, you can refuse illegal orders, you can decline unlawful commands, you have to refuse unlawful commands. No one has to follow orders that violate the law or our constitution."

The Former President's Incensed Reaction

The clip seemed to trigger a angry response from the former president.

On later in the week, Trump wrote on his preferred platform: "It's called SEDITIOUS BEHAVIOR AT THE HIGHEST LEVEL. Each one of these traitors to our United States should be ARRESTED AND PUT ON TRIAL."

In an additional message, he declared: "This is really bad, and Dangerous to our Nation. Their words cannot be permitted to persist. SEDITIOUS BEHAVIOR FROM TRAITORS!!! LOCK THEM UP???"

In a third message, he continued: "SEDITIOUS BEHAVIOR, punishable by DEATH!" He also redistributed a statement that read: "HANG THEM GEORGE WASHINGTON WOULD !!"

Party Leaders Answer

Following Trump's remarks on Thursday, Top Democrats published a unified declaration condemning the statements.

"Violent politics has no position in the United States," they wrote. "Elected officials who participated in the video all acted our nation with great patriotism and honor. We clearly condemn Donald Trump's disgusting and risky threats of violence against congressional representatives, and call on House Republicans to vigorously do the same."

The Democratic leaders also mentioned that they had been in touch with law enforcement "to make certain the security of these officials and their relatives."

"Donald Trump must right away delete these radical social media posts and retract his violent language before he causes harm," the announcement stated.

Representatives' Strong Answer

The representatives who were featured in the video also published a declaration.

"We serve as ex-military personnel and national security professionals who care for this United States and swore an oath to defend and uphold the constitution of the United States," they declared. "Our pledge is permanent, and we aim to keep it. No intimidation, pressure, or promotion of aggression will stop us from that fundamental duty."

"The significant point is that the former president views it subject to penalty by execution for us to restate the law," they continued. "Our service members should know that we have their support as they carry out their vow to the constitution and responsibility to adhere to only lawful orders. It is not only the right thing to do, but also our duty."

They added: "Every American must join forces and condemn the ex-president's demands for our execution and ideological conflict. This is a period for moral clarity."

Additional Partisan Comments

The Senate Democratic leader also condemned Trump's remarks and published on digital platforms: "It's important to understand: the former president is calling for the execution of government members."

He stated: "This represents an direct THREAT. Each congressional member, every Representative, the entire nation – regardless of party – should condemn this without delay and unconditionally."

The Conservative official defended Trump's claim that the Democrats had engaged in "rebellion", describing the video as "extremely improper", adding: "It is very harmful, you have prominent officials of the legislature instructing military personnel to disobey orders, I think that is historic in the nation's past."

The Conservative representative also allegedly told the press that in what he read of Trump's messages, Trump was "describing the crime of rebellion" but that "lawyers have to examine the wording and decide all that."

Executive Branch Statement

During a White House press conference on later that day, when asked by a reporter, "Is the president want to kill congressional representatives?", the executive branch representative replied: "Absolutely not."

"We should understand about what the president is reacting to," the official said. "We see active officials of the American legislature who conspired to organize a video message to individuals of the US military, to serving soldiers advising them to ignore the executive's proper directives."

She said: "The purity of our military relies on the chain of command, and if that structure is compromised, it can result in people getting killed, it can cause disorder, and precisely what these congressional representatives ... are essentially encouraging."
