In late 2018, Steve Bannon, previously a top aide to Donald Trump, was in the UK to deliver a speech at the prestigious Oxford Union.

The event was disrupted by numerous demonstrators, and Bannon, who was due to board a flight that evening, told Jeffrey Epstein in an email: "Activists delayed my talk I doubt I can catch the flight we r enroute to heathrow".

Epstein responded: "That. Is a gulf air departing at 950 with a stop in Bahrain". Bannon answered: "U r an amazing helper".

These messages were published on this week alongside over 20,000 pages from the estate of Epstein, the deceased financier convicted of sex crimes.

The release by the House oversight committee includes an text conversation where Bannon's identity is redacted. The BBC has been able to confirm his involvement by matching the dates, occurrences, and places mentioned.

For example, Epstein talks about chartering a plane from Scotland for the unnamed individual in the chat, and commends their "Oxford speech". Bannon participated in the Edinburgh conference on 14 November, and gave the speech at the Oxford Union on November 16.

Bannon, who faces no allegations of any misconduct, declined to comment on the inquiry.

'I'll make sure you're well looked after'

Bannon was one of the president's key advisers in the lead-up to the 2016 election and during the initial phase of his first administration, but stepped down from the administration in August 2017.

He has acknowledged he was producing a film about Epstein prior to his death and reportedly has around 15 hours of footage. In a live taping of his show recently, he stated: "We plan to publish the film, the five-part series, next year - early next year."

But the newly released materials suggest Bannon's connection with Epstein went further than being his biographer, with the convicted paedophile at times seeming to act like a aide.

A few days before the exchange in which Epstein appeared to have booked a private plane for Bannon, Epstein said: "what's it like to have the highest-paid booking agent in the world ".

Bannon expressed gratitude: "U r quite capable assistant", to which Epstein replied "Therapies. Not Included".

Discussing a trip to "AD" in a separate text, Epstein assured Bannon: "I will ensure you are taken care of."

British Affairs Discussed in Exchanges

The released communications also reveal Bannon and Epstein talking about UK politics in that year.

On the same day his address at the Oxford Union, Bannon texted Epstein: "I became involved in the Brexit issue this morning with Farage, Boris and Mogg."

Then, in what appears to be a allusion to the UK prime minister, the struggling UK prime minister at the period, he continued: "The guys are attempting to proceed. may soon…"

Epstein suggested Bannon: "I think staying as much as you can uk. Ideal- so people see the commitment of your follow-up."

Soon after, Epstein asked: "Will Theresa may survive". Bannon replied: "I don't see how however the people here have no balls" and added "Johnson ; Gove; Rees Mogg; Davis - someone has to step up".

May was finally toppled in May 2019 after withstanding two votes of no confidence in late 2018.

A spokesman for Reform UK told media: "Farage has not been in a gathering with Steve Bannon, Jacob Rees Mogg and Boris Johnson." And there is nothing to suggest that encounter occurred.

The US House of Representatives will decide next week on whether the justice department should make public all its records related to its probe into Epstein, who passed away in jail in 2019.

Interest in Epstein's relationships with powerful figures was reignited this week after the release of over 20,000 pages from his archives.

Some of those mentioned Trump, who has repeatedly denied any impropriety. The president was a friend of Epstein's for a long time, but says they fell out in the 2000s, two years before Epstein was initially charged.
