Ex- Physician Accused of Sexual Assault Allegations Against 38 Patients
Prosecutors have announced that a ex- doctor stands accused of carrying out assaults involving thirty-eight victims who were patients.
The Serious Charges
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of dozens of acts of sexual assault – some of which involve some against minors under the age of thirteen – between 2017 to 2021.
One senior CPS official commented, “Our prosecutors have diligently worked to assist a detailed and complex police inquiry, meticulously examining the available evidence to establish that there is a strong case to bring the case to trial and that it is in the public interest.”
The Investigation
These allegations come after what investigators described as a “detailed inquiry” into reported assaults at medical facilities: the Royal Stoke university hospital and Russells Hall hospital.
Spencer is scheduled to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on 20 January.
Breakdown of Charges
Prosecutors said the 45 charges he is charged with:
- Fifteen counts of sexual assault.
- 17 counts of assault by penetration.
- Nine counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
- 3 counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
- 1 count of attempting to assault by penetration.
