Slot Maintains He Is Safe and Retains The Club's Support Following PSV Loss

The Liverpool head coach conceded that it's understandable for concerns to be raised about his position following a further convincing loss versus the Dutch champions.

Liverpool endured their ninth defeat in 12 matches, marking the team's worst streak after being demoted in 1953-54.

They were outplayed by the Eredivisie champions on a tough evening at their home ground.

“I am feeling safe, I am OK, I have got plenty of backing from management,” the coach stated.

“It would be nice to reverse this trend and secure a win of course but when you're working as a coach and struggling then it's expected that doubts arise.”

He added, “I accept my role. It is not the first time I’ve been in a challenging situation but it's necessary that we turned it around.”

Discussions with Club Management

When asked to provide details on his discussions with the Liverpool hierarchy, the head coach explained:

“We talk a lot. They are supportive to the team and for me and we have those conversations but they aren't calling me constantly each day to say they have faith in me.”

He added, “During our regular conversations we have I perceive the confidence. However I haven’t spoken to them since this game yet so we'll see.”

Familiar Problems and Squad Response

Slot lamented known weaknesses from his squad in their Champions League defeat, specifically missed opportunities and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was more direct in his evaluation of the team's situation.

“I haven't got the solutions. Truthfully, I don’t. I’m saying that to everyone,” the midfielder stated.

“It’s just unacceptable. I don't have to wait to reflect. I'm beyond getting mad internally. I've reached the stage now where I simply lack the phrases.”

He went on, “It's tough because I play for the side I follow. I support them, and I've watched this club for years.”

“In recent memory, I haven’t experienced a Reds side enduring a phase such as this with outcomes so bad.”

He stated, “However we continue to wear the emblem on our chest. And as long as that badge is gone, we’re always going to compete.”

“We will attempt to help the side back to the top, prove once more what Liverpool stands for and why it's known as the greatest side in the world.”

“At this moment, we're in trouble and it must improve.”
