The Renowned Musician Urges Backing to Propel Together for Palestine Track to UK Christmas No 1.

A charity drive is aiming to send a Palestinian lullaby to the peak of the festive singles chart. The campaign aims to deliver assistance to communities in Gaza while also showcasing Palestinian culture and creativity.

An Opportunity for Support and an "Unlikely Coup"

Musician and artist Brian Eno, who performs on the track, stated that the song titled Lullaby represents a chance to stand with Palestinians during the holidays. He remarked the potential for an unlikely festive coup.

“It would be incredible if that came to pass, yes,” he commented. “I wouldn't be completely let down if it doesn’t, Christmas singles are a unique phenomenon.”

Defiant Message of Self-Determination

Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who performs on the reimagining of a folk song called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the song's powerful central theme.

“It occupies a very special place for a lot of people,” Barghouti shared. “The essence is that I would choose to perish with honor than spend my life without freedom. That is the core idea of the song; we desire to exist a respectful existence that we merit as a people.”

Recording Origins and Star-Studded Lineup

The single was laid down in the wake of a major charity concert held in late summer. Initially planned to be performed and recorded live, the piece was shelved during the concert due to the event running long.

The notable list of musicians appearing on Lullaby includes a selection of prominent voices from the music world. All participated in the September show, which successfully generated a considerable total for relief efforts.

Production and Release

Lullaby was crafted by a group of music creators. The song features a combination of the heritage language with new English lyrics.

The team running the campaign have emphasized that their goal is to collect the highest amount for a charitable pot. These proceeds will be distributed to Palestinian causes through an established charity.

“There is no a specific target,” a spokesperson commented. “We’ll go for the maximum achievable. Obviously, the greater the amount, the better. Every penny goes out to Gaza.”

The context in the area was noted for its extreme devastation, with a vast majority of infrastructure reportedly levelled or seriously harmed.

“Against that backdrop, a handful of millions is unlikely to make that much difference. But I think what truly matters is primarily raising awareness for this issue and demonstrating there’s another side to the story.”

The track is scheduled for release on Friday. Additionally, a complete film of the charity concert will be made ready to watch on a major video platform from the 19th of December.
